MELBA JEAN (BROWN) HOLLENBACK

Melba Hollenback

Melba J. Hollenback, 78, of Vermont died at 1:57 p.m. May 26, 2009, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born Sept. 10, 1930, in Vermont, a daughter of Arthur R. and Laura L. Derry Brown. She married Harlow Eugene Hollenback on Feb. 14, 1949. He preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1975.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Steven L. Hollenback; one grandson, Jerry Austin Hollenback; and one sister, Margaret Heaton.

Surviving are three sons, Michael (and Rhonda) Hollenback and Jerry (and Robin) Hollenback, both of Table Grove and Danny (and Sherry) Hollenback of Vermont; two daughters, Sharie Jean Hollenback and JoAnn (and Dennis) Hollenback, both of Table Grove; one brother, Kenneth Brown of Industry; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She worked in the retail industry for 30 years.

She was initiated into Laurel Grove Rebekah Lodge #19 on April 16, 1971, where she was a member until it consolidated with Victor Rebekah Lodge #385 of Bushnell on Dec. 20, 2001.

She served as noble grand of Laurel Grove Rebekah #19 and as secretary for a number of years. She also served as president of District #12 in 1979, 1996 and 1998.

She was a member of LAPM of Macomb #9 and Table Grove American Legion Auxiliary.

Services were held Saturday at Table Grove Community Church with Rev. Robert Harrison officiating. Cremation has been accorded. Kost Memorial Home in Vermont was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Table Grove Fire Department/Rescue or Table Grove American Legion Auxiliary.
