M. Evelyn Hoke

M. Evelyn Hoke, 94, of Peoria died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 24, 1905, in Astoria, a daughter of Samuel F. and Virginia Onion Hoke.

Surviving are two nephews, Leland Skiles and Carroll Skiles, both of Astoria; and two nieces, Judy White of Canton and Charlotte Walden of Seligman, Mo.

One sister and one brother preceded her in death.

She worked for Equitable Life Insurance Co. from 1933 until retiring in 1970 as head of the policy loan division.

She was a member of the PEO, Chapter BX; First United Methodist Church of Peoria, where she served as organist for 25 years; and the Amateur Musical Club of Peoria.

She also was a member of the Equitable Veterans Legion and the American Business Women's Association.

Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Marian Stone officiating. Entombment was in Astoria Memorial Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to the Astoria Township Cemetery Association.
