Carroll Skiles

Carroll Eugene Skiles, 89, of Astoria died July 26, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.

He was born July 17, 1931, in Astoria, a son of Leland C. and Hazel Hoke Skiles. He married Wanda M. Hollenback on Aug. 25, 1951, in Ipava. She preceded him in death.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Leland J. Skiles; and one sister, Charlotte J. Walden.

Survivivng are one daughter, Janet K. Skiles of Carthage; one son, Mark T. Skiles of Astoria; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a farmer all of his life.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Astoria Cemetery with Pastor Matthew Thiner officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Astoria Legion Post 25. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Astoria Fire and Rescue or Fulton County Humane Society.
