RUSSELL “RED” HOWELL

Russell Howell

Russell “Red” Howell, 69, of rural Havana, died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 1995, at his residence.

He was born June 29, 1925, in Manito, a son of Henry Johner and Gladys Mason Howell. He married Lois VanEtten on Sept. 10, 1944, in Easton. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ron of LeRoy and Russell of Normal; one daughter, Barbara Bohm of Havana; three brothers, Ray of Ipava, Lawrence of Loveland, Colo., and Loren of Astoria; four sisters, Anna Hammett, Florence Burgett, Mary Daniel and Betty Gilmore, all of Havana; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

A member of Carpenters Local 644 in Pekin, he was a carpenter, retiring in 1980. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Havana.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Hurley Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Maffett officiating.

Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
