Ray HowellRay “Chicken” T. Howell, 77, of rural Lewistown died at 4:35 p.m. June 9, 2015, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Oct. 29, 1937, in Bath, a son of Henry and Gladys Mason Howell. He married Nancy L. Burgess on Oct. 30, 1958, in Lewistown. She preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 1998.

He also was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters and one great-grandchild.

Surviving are four daughters, Cathy (and Richard) Ruark of Canton, Laura (and Leonard Vaughn) Howell of Ipava and Angie (and Kevin) Grigsby and Crystal (and Carl) Parrish, both of rural Lewistown; two sisters, Florence Burgett, formerly of Havana, and Betty Gilmore of Havana; 11 grandchildren; one step grandchild; six great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.

He had worked for Freeman United Coal Company and later at Lewistown Ag.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was of Methodist faith.

A graveside service was held Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Reverend Danie deBeer officiating. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.
