Mrs. Stella Hunter Of Vermont Dies

Mrs. Stella M. Hunter, 74, of Vermont, died at 7 a.m. Friday, May 29, 1987, at her home.

She was born June 17, 1912, in Schuyler County, a daughter of Warren and Rosa Shores Derry. She married Harry Hunter April 23, 1934 in Vermont. He died June 1, 1984.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Shirley McCombs of Petersburg, Mrs. Nelda Schisler of Springfield, Mrs. Susan McFarlin of Havana, Mrs. Linda Moon of Booneville, Ark., and Mrs. Doris Ebling of Galesburg; four sons, Charles Hunter of Riverton, Donnie Hunter of Houston, Texas, Kenneth Hunter of Moosehart and Larry Hunter of North Aurora; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Stambaugh of Astoria, Mrs. Laura Brown of Vermont and Mrs. Lola Trone of London Mills; one brother, Roscoe Derry of Vermont; 34 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandsons.

Preceding her in death were one stepson, one daughter, two brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Hunter was a member of the Christian Church. She had worked at Ken-Ray Foundry for 20 years before retiring.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Vermont Christian Church with Rev. Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Phillips Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Vermont Rescue Squad.
