Cline Horton, Lifetime Resident, Dies

Cline Horton, 72, lifetime resident of the Astoria area, died Sunday afternoon about 3:30 p.m. in his home in Astoria. He had been in ill health for the past several months.

Mr. Horton was born in Woodland Township of Feb. 11, 1888, a son of Thomas Jefferson and Susannah Stoops Horton. On June 26, 1912, in Astoria, he was married to Ethel Harris, who survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lois Lehman of Astoria, two grandchildren, Mike and Terry Lehman of Astoria, two sisters, Mrs. Bruce Heath of Omaha, Nebr., and Mrs. Harley Curless of Astoria. A son, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Horton had spent his entire life in and near Astoria and was very well known in this area. He was a member of the Astoria Christian Church, Knights of Pythias, and Masonic Lodges. He was a graduate of Worsham College of Embalming in Chicago, a member of District 8 Funeral Directors, Ill. Funeral Directors Assoc., and National Funeral Directors Assoc. He was the oldest practicing funeral director in Fulton County.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Astoria Christian Church by the Rev. C. W. Leonard of Rushville. Burial was in the Astoria Mausoleum.
