ARTHUR WILSON HICKLE

Arthur Hickle, 85, Dies In Rushville Hospital

Arthur W. Hickle, residing north of Bader, died at the Culbertson hospital, Rushville last Wednesday, aged 85 years, 2 months and 13 days.

Mr. Hickle was born in Missouri on July 27, 1871, a son of George and Apana (Wilson) Hickle. When but a few months old his parents came back to Illinois, and he resided here the balance of his life.

On March 28, 1899 he was united in marriage to Sylvia Rakestraw, who preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1943.

To this union five children were born, one deceased. Surviving are: Russell and Reynolds of near Bader, Wilson of Macomb, and Mrs. Vera Ebbert of near Ray; also three grandchildren, one brother, George Hickle of Granada Hills, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Lottie Ross of Vermont.

Arthur was deeply interested in the welfare of his family. He was skillful and ingenious. He was a farmer most of his life. A heart condition restricted his activities the later years of his life.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Horton Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Fred Thompson. Burial was in the Vermont cemetery.

[Laura's note: I have typed this as it was originally published; however, his wife's name was actually “Apama”, not “Apana”, and his son “Wilson” was actually “William.” I have this on personal knowledge from the family.]
