George GensealGeorge GensealGeorge J. Genseal, 87, of Beardstown, formerly of Rushville, died at 4:16 p.m. Sept. 26, 2019, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born Oct. 1, 1931, in Beardstown, a son of Dick and Bessie Mae Coakley Genseal. He married Phyllis Robertson on Jan. 31, 1952, in Palmyra, Mo. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2006.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Silbert, Frank and Glenn Genseal; and one sister, Juanita “Jean” Ridgeway.
Surviving are one daughter, Carol (and Dennis) Greenwood of Leesburg, Va.
He was an owner and operator of Surber and Genseal Meat Processing Plant in Rushville. After selling the business, he worked for M & M Vending in Macomb.
He served in the U.S. Army, in the 169th Infantry.
He was a member of the Lewistown VFW and Schuyler American Legion Post 4. He also was active in Ducks Unlimited.
Graveside service was held Monday in the Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
