Glen I. Genseal, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Beardstown, died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Jan. 18, 1915, near Ipava, a son of Dick and Bessie Coakley Genseal. He married Mary Lou Curless in 1939. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Glenn (and Eleanor) of Greenview and Randy of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Silbert of Cuba and George (and Phyllis) of Rushville; and one sister Juanita (and Steve) Ridgway of Pleasanton, Texas.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

A World War II Navy veteran, he served in the 101st Fighting Seabees in the South Pacific. The Seabees repaired and replenished runways and facilities in the Admiralty Islands that were destroyed by Japanese bombers.

He lived in California for several years, where he was self-employed for Arco Oil Co.

Cremation has been accorded and graveside services were held Wednesday at Ipava Cemetery. Cline-Goodwin Funeral Home in Beardstown was in charge of arrangements.
