Phillip Groff

Phillip D. Groff, 75, of Astoria died at 10:50 p.m. Jan. 5, 2009, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital emergency room in Rushville.

He was born Dec. 20, 1933, in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, a son of George C. and Mary Anna Lalicker Groff. He married Marilyn L. Goulding on June 4, 1954, in Ipava. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Bob (and Marcia) Groff of Canton; two daughters, Pam (and Andy) Fugate of Industry and Lisa (and Ryan) Sullivan of Table Grove; one sister, Judy Cleavinger of Rushville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Alexis Miller; and one brother, Robert D. Groff.

He retired from WITCO Corp. in Mapleton after 30 years of work. He drove an oil truck for Price Oil in Astoria and worked for Heitz Farm in Vermont.

Services were held Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Kevin Kessler officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.
