MARY ANNA (LALICKER) GROFF

Mary Groff

Mary A. Groff, 89, of Astoria died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

She was born June 3, 1910, in Ipava, a daughter of Chancey and Annie Forsythe Lalicker. She married George C. Groff on Dec. 24, 1929, in Peoria. He died Aug. 21, 1982.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Robert Dale; five brothers; and one sister.

Surviving are one son, Phillip (and Marilyn) of Astoria; one daughter, Judy (and Robert) Cleavinger of Astoria; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two half brothers, Eugene (and Nelda) Lalicker of Dunlap and Raymond (and Ruby) Lalicker of Florida; and two half sisters, Margie (and Gerald) Gerard of Cuba and Beverly Lalicker of East Peoria.

She was employed at Astoria Fiber Steel Plant and Dr. Bernard Campbell and retired from Astoria Coin Wash in 1992.

She was a member of Ipava Christian Church in Ipava.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Schuyler-Cass Hospice Association or Astoria Rescue Squad.
