VeteranWillis D. Gilson Of Peoria Dies

Willis D. Gilson, 66, of 2006 N. Bigelow, Peoria, died at 8:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 1979, at his home.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He worked as a supervisor and in maintenance at the Journal Star for almost 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II.

He was born Feb. 27, 1912, in Astoria, a son of Fay and Della Slaight Gilson. He married Wilma Miesner July 6, 1940, in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, William of Hanna City and Thomas of Lake Camelot; three grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Fern Workman of Havana.

Private graveside services will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Astoria.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. William Marston officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Willis D. Gilson Fund in care of the church, 2110 W. Northmoor Road, Peoria, Ill., 61614.

Arrangements are by Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria.
