Betty J. Ford, 76, of Golden Acres in Canton, formerly of Smithfield, died at 1:55 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, at Graham Hospital Extended Care in Canton.
She was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Cuba, a daughter of George and Mary Jane Taylor West. She married Aubury L. Ford on March 8, 1941, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He died Dec. 17, 1996.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Tarter, and four brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Vernon (and Cindy) of Canton and Donald "Doc" (and Pat) of Greenburg, Ind.; one daughter, Sandra (and Lloyd) Pigg of Canton; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She worked as a certified nurse's aide at several nursing homes in the Fulton County area.
She was a member of Smithfield Church of the Nazarene.
Services were held Monday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Layton Malone officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery in Cuba.
