Melvin Foster

Melvin J. Foster, 74, of Canton, died at 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 1996, at his home.

He was born April 30, 1922, in rural Lucas, Kan., a son of Arthur and Ethel M. Baker Foster. He married Lucille M. Bruninga on Aug. 24, 1946, in Trivoli. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Elaine) Hardee of Watertown, S.D.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Foster of rural Browning and John Foster of Canton; and one sister, Doris Foster of Canton.

He owned and operated Melvin’s Repair Shop, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home with Rev. George Mercer officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brunswick Cemetery in rural Trivoli.

Memorials may be made to his church.
