Harold Foster

Harold D. Foster, 89, of Astoria died at 8:35 a.m. Nov. 13, 2006, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Macomb.

He was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Dorrance, Kan., a son of Arthur and Ethel Baker Foster. He married Marjorie Groff on Sept. 21, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Linda (and Gale) Roosa of Ipava, and Carol (and Paul) Stambaugh and Merrie Jean (and Roy) Parry, both of Astoria; one son, Michael (and Irene) Foster of Belville; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He farmed his entire life. He also worked for Leonard Gorsuch constructing television towers, Sill Implement in Astoria as a mechanic and Peabody Coal Co. in Vermont.

He was a member of Woodland Church of the Brethren in Astoria.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Ken Peterson officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.

Memorials may be made to Astoria Rescue Squad or McDonough District Hospital Hospice program.
