Clarence A. France Dies At Age 82

Clarence A. France, 82, of Astoria died Thursday at a Peoria hospital following an illness of about one year.

He was born May 24, 1883 at Ray, Ill., the son of Allen and Christina Heston France. He was married Nov. 19, 1905 to Marville Grove. He served as minister in United Brethren churches in Illinois and Oklahoma during his life and for the past 35 years resided in Astoria. He was a member of the Astoria Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Surviving are the widow, one brother, Ralph M. France of Springfield, three sisters, Mrs. Mae Bollinger of Astoria, Mrs. Pearl Foster of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Clara Hott of Hoopeston, Ill. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A brother died previously.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. The Rev. Russell Fry officiated. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
