Mrs. Ruth Ebbert Dies In Rock Island

Mrs. Ruth E. Ebbert, 70, of Viola, formerly of Ipava, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 1980, at Franciscan Medical Center in Rock Island.

Born July 14, 1909, near Ipava, a daughter of Bruce and Anna McCamant Pickering, she married Floyd Ebbert June 5, 1928, in Havana. He died Dec. 12, 1979.

She was a retired telephone operator and beautician, a 50-year member of Ipava American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Aledo VFW.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. John (Marilyn) Wilcoxen of Viola; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Carl Pickering of Abingdon; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Reneau of Abingdon, Mrs. Elsie Menees of Moline, Mrs. Anna Lee Derry of Justice, and Mrs. Alice Weese of Fruita, Colo.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Rev. Gordon Barrick officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Aledo Church of the Nazarene.
