SIGOURNEY (HICKLE) ELLIOTT

Aged Summum Lady Passed Away Sunday

Sigourney Elliott, daughter of Aaron and Sarah Hickle was born Oct. 22, 1852 near Vermont, Ill., and passed away at Summum, Sunday, April 23, 1933, at the age of 80 years, 6 months and one day.

She was united in marriage to Elisha Elliott in November, 1870. Since her marriage she always resided in Summum and vicinity. Her husband passed away in July, 1927.

To this union seven children were born, one dying in infancy and one son Elmer, passed away in September, 1928. The following children are left to mourn her loss: Ernest of Summum, Luke of Lewistown, Idaho, Iva Welch of near Havana, Pearl Wright, Macomb, Donald, Canton. There are nineteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren and hosts of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Elliott was quiet and unassuming. She ruled her home in quietude and sympathy. She was a great lover of her own home. None were to feel any need or want in her presence. She offered herself most willingly for their comfort. She is gone, let us say, to prepare another home for her loved ones and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Summum Christian church, conducted by Rev. Chas. F. Nagel, pastor of the Methodist church of Astoria. Burial in the Summum cemetery.
