Luann Davis died at her residence in Galesburg, at 2:15 a.m. on Sept. 6, 2024.
She was born March 12, 1940, in Canton, a daughter of Harold and Nelda Jo Smith Burgard. She married Lowell Davis on Aug. 16, 1959, in Ipava, and they made their home and raised their family on their farm in London Mills. They raised Charolais cattle, corn and beans. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2014.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Lanny and Robert Burgard; and one sister, Lois Gorsage.
Surviving are four daughters, Shelley (and the late Doug) Moothart of Fairfield, Iowa, Kamie Davis and Gayle Peach of St. Louis, Mo., Daphne Davis of London Mills and Jeanie Fili and Amanda Snyder of Peoria; one sister, Rebecca (and Don) Heller of Table Grove; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Luann and Lowell’s grandson Will continues in their footsteps as he raises and breeds their herd of Charolais they started in 1969.
She was a 1958 graduate of VIT High School. After high school, she graduated from the Peoria School of Beauty attaining her beautician’s license.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Kevin Kessler officiating.
Memorials in Luann’s memory may be made to the Illinois Junior Charolais Association.
All are invited to the Ipava American Legion in Ipava for a luncheon following the services.
