Ralph "Dwayne" DownsRalph Dwayne Downs, 83, of Rushville died at 8:35 p.m. Jan. 25, 2016, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Oct. 7, 1932, in Huntsville Township, Schuyler County, a son of Clifford and Beulah Chipman Downs. He married Rita Maxine Eckroy on June 22, 1953, in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County. She preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 1997.

He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Esther Downs, Virginia Gieker and Maggie Burnside; and four brothers, John Harlan Downs, Richard Downs, Gary Downs and Merlin Downs.

Surviving are one daughter, Marsha Downs Wells of San Diego, Calif.; two sons, Jeff Downs and Mitch (and Lisa) Downs, both of Rushville; one sister, Marjorie Downs Byers of Glen Arm, Md.; and two grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. After returning from Korea in June of 1955, he farmed in Bainbridge Township for 34 years before working for M & M Vending. He retired in 1998.

He was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and Rushville Moose Lodge #506.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Rob Kirkham officiating. Burial was in Lawler Cemetery in Bainbridge Township with military honors by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and a U.S. Army Honors Detail.
