Rita M. Downs, 60, of rural Rushville, died at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born Aug. 18, 1937, in Macomb, a daughter of Clinton and Maxine Ambrosius Eckroy. She married Dwayne Downs on June 22, 1953 at the home of his parents in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County. He survives.
Also surviving are: one daughter, Marsha Wells of San Diego, Calif.; two sons, Jeff Downs and Mitch Downs, both of Rushville; two granddaughters, Alexis and Andria Downs; two sisters, Sherry Leverton and Luan Bryant, both of Rushville; one brother, Bill Eckroy of Rushville.
She was preceded in death by two infant brothers, James and Don, and two infant sisters, Jean and Grace.
She was a certified nurse assistant at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville for 38 1/2 years. She also was a member of the Culbertson Hospital Auxiliary and Schuyler American Legion Auxiliary Unit #4.
Services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Robert Kirkham officiating. Burial was in the Lawler Cemetery in Bainbridge Township.
