Lenora DixonLenora J. Dixon, 92, of Browning died at 10:36 p.m. April 1, 2013, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

She was born July 11, 1920, in Bader, a daughter of Harry B. and Edith Grove Stambaugh. She married Phillip V. Dixon on May 6, 1945, in Havana. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1996.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Lucy Burgard; and two brothers, Floyd "Zeke" and George Stambaugh.

Surviving are one son, Philip Lynn Dixon of Astoria; one special friend, Chelsea Lee Zimmerman of Jacksonville; and one brother, John (and Mary Lou) Stambaugh of Rushville.

She was a homemaker. She also worked as a waitress at Astoria Koffee Kup. She was a personal assistant to a hunter who lived in Beardstown and worked as office manager for her and her husband's farming and swine operation, as well as bookkeeper for 14 other farms in the area. She served on the Federal Grand Jury in Springfield.

She was a 1937 graduate of Browning High School.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in Browning Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Astoria Rescue Squad, Hickory-Kerton Fire Department or Browning Cemetery.
