Dayle DannerDayle D. Danner, 91, of Canton died at 6:16 p.m. June 16, 2012, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Astoria, a son of Melvin and Viola Gruber Danner. He married Maxine Tippey on Feb. 14, 1948, in Macomb. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2009.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Philip Danner; and three sisters, Margaret Kepple, Betty Cox and Shirley Mathis.

Surviving are one daughter, Marsha (and Brent) Micheli of Rockford; one son, Marvin (and Laura) Danner of Canton; two sisters, Miriam Bushnell of Springfield and Audrey Bucy of Canton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was in Illinois National Guard, serving with the Battery B 233rd Field Artillery Battalion with the rank of Corporal.

He was a farm hand and worked at Mummert Seed Company and Astoria Fibra-Steel. He also worked at Tingley Products in Ipava and retired from Bower Bearing in Macomb in 1983.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Doug Krukewitt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery with military rites provided by Astoria American Legion Post #25.

Memorials may be made to Vermont Rescue Squad.
