Patsy DoddsPatsy Louise Dodds, 63, of Sugar Grove died at 10:10 p.m. Aug. 25, 2007, at her home.

She was born Nov. 28, 1943, near Ray, a daughter of Everett and Ressie Roate Surratt. She married Warren Dodds on July 21, 1962, in Sugar Grove. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Terry Joe (and Nancy) Dodds of Rushville and Timothy Lee Dodds of Sugar Grove; one daughter, Pamela June Dotzert of Sugar Grove; one brother, Wendell (and Rosemary) Surratt of Rushville; two sisters, Selma (and Ray) Dockum of Grand Island, Neb., and Lorinda (and Art) Brewer of East Ridge, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Nicole Dodds; and three sisters, Virginia Leach, Gwen Hullinger and Fern Tarr.

She was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, where she devoted many hours on various committees, taught kindergarten and lower elementary Sunday school classes for over 40 years, and was president of the United Methodist Women.

She was a correspondent for The Rushville Times for over 37 years, writing the Rushville, Sugar Grove and Littleton news.

She walked in the Relay for Life for cancer research for four years and a was co-leader of the Daisy Girl Scouts troop for one year.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at her church with Rev. Beth Nelson and Rev. William Hesseldenz officiating. Burial will be in Gillette Cemetery south of Rushville. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
