She was born June 18, 1951, in Rushville, the daughter of John Wilbur and Sarah Elizabeth Robeson Root. She married Thomas Carroll on Oct. 29, 1977, in Beardstown. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Rodney K. Root of Beardstown; one daughter, Amy Lynn Miller of Beardstown; two brothers, William Dale (and Mary) Root and Neil R. Root, both of Rushville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Dean Root; and three brothers, Richard, Roger and Harold Root.
She was a member of Beardstown Calvary Baptist Church.
She was employed at Myers Nursing Home and was a custodian at Rushville High School before retiring. She also worked at the Anderson Christmas Tree lot in Jacksonville during the holiday season for almost 30 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Eric Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service on Wednesday.
