Justin Clayton

Justin ClaytonJustin M. Clayton, 13, of Astoria was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He died from injuries sustained in a crash while riding a dirt bike in rural Schuyler County near Astoria.

He was born Nov. 16, 1989, in Macomb, the son of Mark and Gina Mann Clayton.

Surviving are his mother of Astoria; his father and stepmother, Mary, of Astoria; one sister, Chelsey Clayton, at home; one stepbrother, Jared Burget of Omaha, Neb; one stepsister, Adrienne (and Matt) Davis of Browning; his grandparents, Betty Clayton of Browning, and David and Mary Anne Mann of Ipava; and his step-grandparents, Devere and Marjorie Scrogum of Astoria.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gerald Clayton.

He worked as a detassler for Pioneer Hybrids Inc. during the summer and was entering the eighth grade at Astoria Junior High.

He played basketball and football for South Fulton Co-op and played baseball for Astoria Park District. He enjoyed swimming, dirt biking, fishing and being with his friends.

He attended the Astoria Christian Church Youth Group.

Services were held Monday at Astoria Christian Church with Gary Sheets and Ron Baker officiating. Burial was in Sheldons Grove Cemetery in Browning. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
