MURIEL A. "COOKIE" (MERRY) CLEMENS

Muriel Clemens

Muriel A. “Cookie” Clemens, 73, of Astoria, died at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, March 15, 1998, at her residence.

She was born July 16, 1924, in Haverhill, N.H., the daughter of James E. and Gladys Whitney Merry. She married Earl “Red” Clemens on May 8, 1946, in Ipava. He survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Gladys Blickenstaff of Astoria, Patricia Lance of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Robin Popplewell of Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; two sons, Lee and Tim, both of Astoria; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

One brother preceded her in death.

She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Pittsfield.

She worked at Astoria Fibra-Steel Corp. from 1972 to 1985.

Services were held this morning at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. James Shirley officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
