Beverly Cox

Beverly J. Cox, 53, of Peoria, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at the scene of a two-car accident on Smithville Road about 1/2-mile east of Stone School Road near Trivoli.

She was born April 30, 1944, in Astoria, a daughter of Lawrence L. and Gertrude Bartlett Hammond. She married Ronald Cox on Feb. 14, 1963, in Bushnell. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Michael Cox of Bellevue, Ronald Cox Jr. of Idaho Springs, Colo., and Lester Cox of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Barbara Maloney and Betty Hyde, both of Bushnell; two brothers, Bill Hammond of Bardolph and Jim Hammond of Astoria; and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Judy Tarvin.

She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Rosewood Care Center.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at Astoria Cemetery with Rev. Gary Schultz officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
