Ronald L. Cox, 55, of Peoria died at 7:05 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 2, 1943, in London Mills, a son of James “Ted” and Ethel Brown Cox. He married Beverly J. Hammond on Feb. 14, 1963, in Bushnell. She died Dec. 24, 1997. One sister also preceded him in death.

Surviving are his parents of Bushnell; three sons, Ronald Jr. of Idaho Springs, Colo., Lester of Springfield, Mo., and Michael of Peoria; five sisters, Lvonne Fassett, Janet Foster and Gretchen Thurman, all of Bushnell, Dorotha Burgett of Canton and Joan McMahill of Orange Park, Fla.; one brother, James of Sapulpa, Okla.; and 13 grandchildren.

He was a Korean War Army and Air Force veteran. He was a biomedical electronics technician for 28 years, first working in Iowa and at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria for the past nine years. He was a member of T.J. Picket Masonic Lodge 307, AF&AM, in Bushnell and the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Services were held Monday at the Astoria Church of the Brethren with Rev. Mary Kathryn Pierce officiating. A Masonic service was conducted. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
