Velma Carey

Velma A. Carey, 86, formerly of Bartonville and Peoria, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 1996, at Rose Garden Convalescence Center.

She was born March 29, 1910, in Astoria, a daughter of Stephen Edward and Cora Mae Danner Parry. She married William Bryan Carey on June 3, 1929, in Lewistown. He died April 23, 1954, in Kingston Mines. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Beebe, and one brother.

Surviving are one granddaughter, Vicky Kominski of Bartonville, with whom she made her home for many years; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Parry of Morton; and two sisters, Betty Olsen of Topeka, Ill., and Millie Lannery of Ipava.

She worked at Burgetts Glove Factory in Peoria for 47 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of First Christian Church in Peoria.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel with Rev. Karen Merrick officiating. Burial was in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
