Wandaleigh Beck

Wandaleigh Beck, 96, of Astoria, died at 1:08 p.m. May 9, 2011, at Astoria Gardens and Rehab in Astoria.

She was born Feb. 5, 1915, in Astoria, the daughter of Elzie Carter "Jake" and Marnie Welker Maxwell. She married Frank "Curly" Beck Jr. on April 12, 1936, in Astoria. He preceded her in death in December of 1980.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, John and Wilfred Maxwell; and one great-grandson.

Surviving are two daughters, Beverly (and Russell) Hamm of Ipava and Kay (and Leon) Dutton of Vermont; one son, Barry (and Sue) Beck of Astoria; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

She was a waitress at the Subway Cafe and the Dairy Dipper, both in Astoria.

She was a member of Pythian Sisters of Astoria; Evangelical United Brethren Church in Astoria and Astoria United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Robert Einhouse officiating. Burial will follow in Astoria Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Astoria United Methodist Church.
