Robert BrownRobert D. “Bob” Brown, 83, of Rushville, died at 3 p.m. Sept. 22, 2010, at Culbertson Long Term Care Facility in Rushville.

He was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Adair, a son of Arla Crittendon and Myrtle Danner Brown. He married Linda Powell DeMoss on June 27, 1969, in Buda. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Roger (and Sandra) Brown of Little York; two daughters, Bonnie (and Michael) Watson of San Clemente, Calif., and Kristi (and Eric) Laning of Mount Sterling; two stepsons, Mitch DeMoss and Mike DeMoss, both of Rushville; one stepdaughter, Mindy (and Brian) Newell of Rushville; one brother, Phillip (and Jean) Brown of Rushville; one sister, Nancy (and Don) Dean of Rushville; six grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 13 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one step grandson, Nathan Cooper.

He began farming with his father in Schuyler County, and in 1968 began Brown’s Construction in Rushville until 2001. He also was the owner, along with his wife, of the Schuy Vista Supper Club from 1972 to 1985. He was often referred to as “Mr. B” by many employees and customers at Brown’s Restaurant and Lounge from 1992 to 2006 and Mr. B’s Sport’s Bar from 2001 to 2004.

He was a member and past treasurer of Rushville Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Award; Odd Fellows Friendship Lodge #24 for over 50 years; past president of National Farmers Organization; and member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where he served on the parish council and attended Ripley Church of God.

Services were held Monday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dixie Croxton and Rob Laning officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
