VeteranArla C. Brown Dies At Age 86

Arla C. Brown, 86, of Rushville died at 1:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 1980, in Snyder’s Nursing Home in Rushville.

Born July 15, 1893, in Vermont, a son of George and Belle Bucy Brown, he married Myrtle Danner Dec. 24, 1923, in Fulton County. She died Feb. 20, 1948. He married Martha Bollinger June 17, 1956, in Rushville, and she died Oct. 19, 1961.

He spent most of his life in Schuyler and Fulton counties, where he farmed until retiring. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Friendship Lodge 24, IOOF, and World War I Veterans’ Club. He was a World War I veteran.

Surviving are two sons, Robert and Phillip, both of Rushville; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Nancy) Dean, Rushville; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Cecil (Joan) Murfin, Fanwood, N.J., Mrs. Ed (Mary Lou) Fegley, Bedford, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Mary E.) Fisk, Astoria; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. this afternoon in Ebenezer Church with Rev. David Haney officiating. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery.
