Phillip BrownPhillip D. Brown, 91, of Rushville died at 10:50 p.m. May 15, 2023, at The Lamoine Retirement Living Center in Macomb.

He was born June 21, 1931, in Adair, a son of Arla C. and Myrtle Danner Brown. He married Jean C. Horney on May 30, 1954, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Charlotte Ann (and Michael) Porcaro of Downers Grove, Carol Jean (and Robert) Strong of Raymond, Miss., and Cynthia Kay (and Tom) Henninger of Rushville; one sister, Nancy J. Dean of Rushville; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Martha Illman Brown; one brother, Robert D. Brown; and one grandchild, Phillip Daniel Strong.

He graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1949. He was a life-long farmer. He was a life-long member of Ebenezer Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees throughout the years.

He was a member of Schuyler County Farm Bureau where he served as president during the years of 1972-74. He also served on the Schuyler-Brown FS Board of Directors for 16 years and was treasurer for 13 of those years. He served on the Culbertson Memorial Hospital Board of Directors from 1980-92. He and Jean were chosen as Master Farmer in 2009 and Outstanding Farmer in 2016.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Dan Wise officiating. Burial followed in Littleton Cemetery.
