Betty L. Briney, 67, of Astoria died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at her home.
She was born July 19, 1938, in Beardstown, a daughter of Richard and Neva Johnson Parry. She married Charles "Bud" Briney on October 5, 1958, in Beardstown. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Neal (and Angie) of Astoria; one sister, Ann Brewer of Beardstown; two grandsons; one granddaughter; one step-grandson; and one step-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kelly McCombs; and her parents.
She was a graduate of Beardstown High School in 1956. She was a homemaker and took an active part in the operation of the family farm.
She was a member of Sheldons Grove United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer. She was active in the Sheldons Grove Ladies Aid. She also was a member of the Schuyler County Farm Bureau and the Schuyler County Extension Office.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Astoria Cemetery with Gary Sheets and Larry Reinke officiating. There will be no visitation. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to her church or the McDonough District Hospice.
