Betty A. Brooks, 77, of Marietta died at 7:51 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Table Grove, a daughter of Leslie and Ruth Knotson Abernathy. She married Albert Lee Brooks on July 31, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. He died April 4, 1989.
One sister also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry and Gary, both of Marietta; two daughters, Patricia Brush and Kay Haskins, both of Marietta; one brother, James Abernathy of Vermont; two sisters, Shirley Kessler of Table Grove and Helen Harris of Marietta; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was a substitute postmaster in Marietta for 19 years. She also was a bookkeeper for New Philadelphia Elevator for 10 years. She owned and operated Tom & Jerry's Tap for seven years.
She was a member of Marietta Community Chapel, where services will be held today at 2 p.m. Rev. Rose Brown will officiate. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Marietta Cemetery.
