She was born Jan. 7, 1949, on the family farm in rural Marietta, a daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Abernathy Brooks. She married William Ward Haskins on Nov. 1, 1975, in Astoria. He survives.
Also surviving are three children, Douglas Thomas of Marietta, Trissy (and Donnie) Havens of Bushnell and Kitty (and Ben) Thompson of Roseville; three siblings, Patricia (and Gary) Brush of Ipava, and Jerry (and Jennifer) Brooks and Gary “Rico” (and Kim Burgard) Brooks, both of Marietta; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and special niece, Lisa Parry.
She crocheted blankets and gave hundreds of them anonymously to people who served for our country. She also made hats and scarves for cancer patients at the hospital in Iowa City.
Cremation Rites were accorded by Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell. Services will be held privately.
