DOROTHEA ELIZABETH “LIZZIE” (SIMPSON) BECK

D. Elizabeth Beck, 82, of rural Astoria, was pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 1999. She died when her car crashed into a semitrailer truck on the Vermont Blacktop near Beck Road.

She was born Feb. 27, 1917, in Huntsville, a daughter of Fred L. and Bessie E. Black Simpson. She married Robert McLaren Beck on Oct. 1, 1936, in Lewistown. He died Jan. 16, 1992.

One granddaughter, one brother and one sister also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Collins of Astoria and Mrs. Gene (Sharon) Trinkle of Rushville; one brother, Lloyd Simpson of Beardstown; three sisters, Vera Osar of Peoria, Imogene Schuman of Aurora, Colo., and Bessie Smith of Lewistown; and six grandchildren.

She was a member of Vermont Christian Church.

She worked at Ken-Ray Foundry in Vermont from 1966 to 1981.

Services were held Sunday, June 13, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
