Mrs. Anna J. Bowser, 91, of Astoria died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 1989, at Snyder’s Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.
She was born Aug. 6, 1897, in Table Grove, a daughter of Fred W. and Anna J. Johnson Engle. She married Ralph G. Bowser on June 9, 1921, in Astoria. He died Oct. 19, 1963.
She also was preceded in death by one infant daughter, one half-brother and one half-sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Alice) Wise of Vermont; two grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one foster sister, Mrs. Frank (Clara) Cooper of Fairborne, Ohio.
She was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church. she taught for a few years in the rural school system.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Guy Freesen officiating. Burial was in South Fulton Cemetery.
