Robert WiseRobert H. Wise, 92, of Vermont died at 8:35 a.m. Sept. 15, 2008, at Wesley Village in Macomb.

He was born Aug. 13, 1916, in Vermont, the son of Clayton and Mary Ellison Wise. He married Alice Bowser on Jan. 31, 1946, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Norman (and Rita) Wise of Table Grove and Charles (and Lois) Wise of North Augusta, S.C.; one sister, Dorothy Fouts of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Hammer and Lottie Milleson.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of Electrician’s Mate, First Class.

He farmed his entire life.

He was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church, Vermont American Legion Post #26 and McDonough County Farm Bureau.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at his church with Rev. Donald Greene officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to McDonough County Public Transport.
