Herbert G. “Snakey” Brown, 88, of Table Grove, died Saturday evening, Feb. 9, 1985, at the Macomb Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born July 28, 1896, in Brentwood, Ark., a son of Edward and Belle (West) Brown. He married Leona Heltzel on Jan. 29, 1918, in McDonough County. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Marie Schisler of Table Grove and Maxine Gagg of Macomb; one son, Merle Brown of Table Grove; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Howard of Springfield, Hulet of Bushnell and Harry of Havana.
He was preceded in death by one son and one brother.
Brown was a laborer, last working in 1972.
Funeral services were held ata 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Rev. Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery near Table Grove.
