Howard E. Brown Of Springfield Dies

Howard E. Brown, 86, of 1221 W. Edwards St., Springfield, died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 1984, at Memorial Medical Center.

Born in Brentwood, Ark., Mr. Brown was the son of Edward and Ida Bell West Brown. A school administrator for 30 years, Mr. Brown was employed for 25 years as a horticulturist inspector for the State of Illinois. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and was a member of the Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church and the University of Illinois Alumnus Association.

His wife, Rosalie, died in 1971 and a brother, Homer F., also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Margaret) Lasswell Buckles of Taylorville; three great grandsons; three brothers, Herbert of Table Grove, Hulet of Bushnell and Harry of Havana; and two grandsons.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel, with Rev. John Jerving officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
