VeteranWallace Baumgardner Of Bushnell Dies

Wallace L. Baumgardner, 51, of 650 Harrison St., Bushnell, died at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, March 4.

Mr. Baumgardner was born April 6, 1918, in McDonough County, the son of John W. and Stella Dye Baumgardner. He was married to Clara E. Habel in Rosenthal, Texas on Sept. 16, 1944.

He attended schools in McDonough County. He was an auctioneer and livestock buyer and had lived in Bushnell for the past seven years. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the VFW. The family formerly resided in Astoria and Vermont prior to moving to Bushnell.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Foster of Bushnell; one son, Charles Baumgardner of Bushnell; one grandson; one step-grandson; four brothers, James of Vermont, George of Galesburg, Walter of Round Lake and John of Altoona; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Fail of Elmwood, Mrs. Pete Cigan of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Mrs. Art Thurman of Rock Island. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at Martin and Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Rev. Dennis Uhles officiating. Burial was in the Vermont Cemetery. Military services were conducted by VFW Post 1422.
