Clarence Yocum

Clarence E. Yocum, 89, of Lewistown, died at his home at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 1996.

He was born Feb. 15, 1907, at Lewistown, a son of Jerry and Matie Bricker Yocum. He married Frances Humphrey at Ft. Madison, Iowa, on April 26, 1930. She survives.

Also surviving are seven sons, Frank Yocum of Ipava, William Yocum of Fairbury, Thomas Yocum of Chatham, James Yocum of Norwood, Eldon Yocum of Springfield, Ohio, John Yocum of Lewistown and Samuel Yocum of Springfield, Ill.; seven daughters, Clarice Pelton of Peoria, Geraldine Lybarger of Romeoville, Sara Beth Yocum of St. Louis, Peggy Towery of Havana, Mildred Dwyer of Hannibal, Mo., Mary Dalida of Dothan, Ala. and Charlene Hutton of Normal; 30 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Dean Yocum of Bull Shoals, Ark.

He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers and two sisters.

He retired in 1969 from Caterpillar, Inc. where he had worked for 25 years. He last worked in building LL as press operator. He was a member of UAW Local 974.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Martin Janicke officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Lewistown.
