George "Rusty" WilsonGeorge R. “Rusty” Wilson, 70, of Table Grove died at 11:11 p.m. Feb. 2, 2019, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Aug. 29, 1948, in Canton, the son of George and Margie Malott Wilson. He married Mary Dennis on March 31, 1984, in Vermont. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Peggy (and Brad) Eddington of Vermont; two sons, Johnny (and Denika) Dennis of Table Grove and Dusty (and Laura) Wilson of Austin, Texas; one sister, Sandy (and Les) Belville of Princeville; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one infant son, Wayne Wilson.

He worked at R and M Service and Sales in Vermont for five years, where he sold appliances and TVs and serviced what he sold. He then worked at Graham Hospital for over 20 years as a bio-med technician.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from March 8, 1968, to March 5, 1971, in the 4th U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam from Feb. 28, 1969, to May 27, 1969, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He received the Vietnam Service medal with two Bronze Service Stars. He also received the National Defense Service medal and the Sharpshooter badge.

He was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church and the Vermont Masonic Lodge #116, AF and AM.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Reverend Robert Greene and Pastor Bennett Woods officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 8 p.m.
