Mary WoodsMary Evelyn Woods, 92, of Macomb, formerly of Ipava, died at 4:50 a.m. March 25, 2016, at The Elms in Macomb.

She was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Blyton, a daughter of Ora and Edith Simpson Barrick. She married Robert Woods on May 7, 1949, in Ellisville. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2001.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, Joe Allen and James Woods; three brothers, Lewis, John and Harold Barrick; and one sister, Helen Stroud.

Surviving are one son, John (and Norma) Woods of Ipava; three daughters, Rosey (and Bob) Middendorf of Leroy, Jane (and John) Derry of Brea, Calif., and Rita (and Glenn) Wilcoxen of Vermont; one sister, Mae Hoskins of Georgetown, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Ellisville High School. After graduation she worked at the Bushnell Hammer Factory for a short time. She then attended Olivet Nazarene College and Graham School of Nursing before her marriage. She worked at Mason District Hospital in Havana, Velma’s Grocery in Ipava and as a home healthcare worker for years.

She was a member of the Fulton County Home Extension and Ipava Christian Church, where she served the Lord through playing the piano, singing and teaching Sunday school.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Brant Reed and Gordon Barrick officiating. Burial was in Wiley Cemetery in Fairview.
