He was born June 20, 1934, in Lewistown, a son of Elmer and Jeanette Guiher Wys. He married Laura Ann Taber on Feb. 5, 1956, in Ipava. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Bonnie (and Judson) Waters of Bloomington, Ind.; two sons, Ed (and Sherry) Wys of Mooresville, Ind., and Ronald Wys of Ipava; two sisters, Barbara Simpson and Clara Kay (and Charles) Nott, both of Lewistown; one brother, Fritz (and Jan) Wys of Lewistown; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He farmed his entire life and worked at International Harvester and Navistar, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Brookside Masonic Lodge #720 in Indianapolis, Ind., Murat Shriners of Indianapolis, Ind., UAW and Ipava Christian Church.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Kevin Kessler officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery.
