Robert Walper

Robert Walper, 85, of Sarasota, formerly of Oswego, died May 20, 2012.

He was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Oswego. He married Joann Woolley on Jan. 15, 1950, in Oswego. She preceded him in death.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Brad; one nephew, Dale Haben; four brothers; and one sister.

Surviving are three children, Debbie Jacobs of McHenry, Steven Walper of Sarasota and Sheri (and Dave) Musser of Oswego; three sisters; three brothers; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He served in World War II from 1944-46 in the U.S. Navy underwater demolition team 30 on the U.S.S. Orvetta.

In 1981, he and his wife moved to Sarasota.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 2, in Oswego.
