Dean WiseDean M. Wise, 80, of Astoria, formerly of Rushville died at 6 p.m. April 24, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Oct. 25, 1929, in Kellerton, Iowa, a son of John J. and Goldie M. Neale Wise. He married Wilma I. Reeder on Dec. 24, 1951. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Steve Wise of Springfield; three brothers, Elbert Dale (and Daisy) Wise of El Paso and Don (and Helen) Wise and Gene (and Charlene) Wise, both of Rushville; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Corydon Wise; one half brother, Wayne Hardy; and one half sister, Ramona Griffith.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. After his discharge, he worked for Phil Allen at Western Auto in Rushville and Astoria, Schuyler County Highway Department and Illinois Department of Transportation, retiring on Dec. 31, 1991.

He was a member of Astoria American Legion Post #25.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery with military honors conducted by Astoria American Legion Post #25. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday.
